Hello all!I'm looking for examples (large or small) of how people have personalized the user experience on your website (like tailoring content or pricing based on who the person is). Also, the same for any upsell examples ('you may also like') and how you approached this from a Tessitura standpoint (Interests/Keywords... custom logic, etc).
We periodically get asked for examples of Tessitura websites doing these things and I want to be sure that I have a good cross-section that represents what the latest trends are here.
Thanks for sharing any thoughts or examples!
Kristin
We don’t offer that much in terms of personalised content but we have spent a bit of time in building a procedure to manage upsells. At the bottom of our shopping basket we have three boxes which can be used for upsells. The results presented to the customer are based on the contents of their basket and constituent address information. This is all managed through a custom screen we have built within tessitura so that our Ticketing Services team can manage these as shows are setup.
We have three types of upsell we can add. Firstly a ticketing based upsell (e.g. Car Parking), secondly a Contribution / Membership based upsell and thirdly a URL based upsell that will take the user to another part of the site. We have built up several formulas that can be used to choose which upsell should be added. All upsells are ordered in terms of a rank and each of these have qualifying factors that will choose if a upsell should be presented or not to the customer. Firstly we check to see if there valid performances available for that upsell e.g. if there is no restaurant places available then it is not shown. Secondly we look at the drive distance from the Centre e.g. if the customer is driving between 1 and 50 miles we offer car parking, if the customer is driving over 50 miles then we will offer a hotel room. Thirdly we have related productions e.g. Only if you have wicked in your basket will you be shown a Wicked Program. Hopefully that makes sense!
Thanks

We have several types of personalization including the recognizing members using customer ranking to provide early access and member pricing.
We upsell by using a content type where users type in a comma separated list of genres. That is passed to the web application which then finds other perfs that have a matching genre. We have some restrictions though. We use a web config option where certain seasons only upsell for their own perfs. We have seasons for each presenter (we are a regional box office and sell for others). We have a separate upsell content type for our education classes.
On our My Account page, we use interests for users to select a genre which we then use in extractions.
Hope that helps!
Gloria
