Invalid promo code message in TNEW

I may be imagining this, but I believe prior to our upgrade to TNEW v4.5 if a customer entered an invalid promo code (either a code that didn't exist or a code tied to a source that was not active) the customer would receive some sort of message alerting them that they had entered an invalid promo code.  
 
Since the upgrade to v4.5 if a customer enters an invalid promo code nothing happens.  There is no message or indication that the promo they entered is invalid - the page refreshes, but they have no indication that there code was NOT accepted.
 
Anyone know of a way to change that?
