We were wondering what systems other organizations have for managing email/enewsletter subscriptions.
We currently use constituent attributes (key value of Subscribed or Unsubscribed) for selecting and suppressing records when extracting email addresses for WordFly mailings. We're looking in to migrating these attribute values to TNEW Interests so that our website users have the ability to manage their email preferences via the Register page and Interests Tab (right now they can only unsubscribe by clicking or calling).
I've imagined
an LP_UPDATE_EMAIL_PROMOTION scriptlet that updates a constituent (TX_CUST_TKW) interest to 'unchecked' and unchecks a corresponding mail_purpose in T_EADDRESS for the customer_no and eaddress parameters passed back in from WordFly. Pretty much the same updates for when a website user unchecks (or checks) an Email Interest checkbox on Register.aspx or the Interests Tab.
Does this sound like a good, workable approach? What do the rest of you do?
