We are in the midst of subscription renewals and have noticed something rather odd.
In a few accounts (about 30) the subscription seats are not showing as renewed on the seat map.
As a business rule, we pay donation amounts first, and then the subscription. We also have payment plans, but do not use the payment schedule. In most all cases, a large donation has been paid and a small payment against the subscription has been made (with the balance due at a later date)
shouldn't any value put against a subscription result in it showing up as renewed on the seat map?
Any help figuring this one out?

Just one more realization on the above situation:
When I pay more against the account that shows the seat as Reserved, Unpaid, it will flip to Reserved, Paid. This leaves me to believe there is a set amount that qualifies a seat as reserved, paid.
this is the first year we have noticed that. Every other year, even the smallest amount down would show Reserved,Paid status on the seat map.
So if I am on the right track, any ideas where a value can be set as >=$1.00
This would help us pay our donations first, with a small amount on subscription. This will give us assurance that the seats are safely held in place, until the second payment goes through.
Thanks again for your thoughts.
Hi Carolynn,
In orders money is applied to contributions first, fees second, and seats last. So until you pay off the contributions and fees, the seats will show as unpaid. As you continue to apply payment, seats will switch to paid one by one as each one becomes fully paid. So if you have two seats that cost $50 each for an order total of $100, if you pay $50, one seat will show as paid and the other as unpaid. There is is how it has always worked and there is no way to change this behavior.
When it comes to the Seat Cancellation utility, though, any order that has a payment applied to it will not be affected by the utility, regardless of where the in the order the money has been applied. Only orders that are fully unpaid, i.e. have received no payments for anything in the order, can be cancelled.
