Parking as a Fee?

Hi all,

Like most of us that sell parking vouchers (according to old tessnet posts) we do so with a dummy performance within Tessitura.
Gearing up for our 2010 renewals I'm wondering if there are organizations out there that use fees to do this and what might be the pros and cons of doing them this way.
Is there a big red flag that I'm not seeing?

Cheers!

    Hi Ryan!

When you say "parking vouchers" what do you mean? Do you create parking passes separately that you sell? My Parking Passes are inputted as a performance and print out with the tickets. I have thought about possibly cutting ticket stock cost and doing a mass order for just parking passes but I wasn't sure how we would track it.

I am interested to hear how others may do this as well.

  • Hi Bobbie, we basically buy parking from a nearby garage, they supply us vouchers that our patrons can use when paying at the garage kiosks which means there is no need for us to print out anything ourselves. Currently we have this set up as a performance that we add onto our orders when parking is purchased. These performances do not have the "printing" option checked in the MOS so that we don't waste stock.

We are only allowed to offer these to our subscribers so the saving time issue presented by Ray however valid for many is not too much of an issue for us.

    Ryan,

Thank you for letting me know how your process works. We also sale parking passes at the garage the night of our performances. For this process, I actually do a batch print of all the past orders to get a supply of parking tickets. Our parking attendant signs out and then returns the money with the left over parking tickets that we document each night. The monies then go up to our accounting department and is entered directly in our Peachtree Accounting System. There is no reference of these transactions in Tessitura. Which means there is no quick way to run a report to track the parking ticket sales.

To date, we have never had an issue with capacity, but there are only so many spaces in the parking garage so it is a possibility.
