Hi all,
Looking for some positive reinforcement on a tickets-returned-for-donation situation.
Previously, when tickets were returned for donation, our ticket services team would roll money into an on account bucket and a development officer would grab the money and enter it as a contribution. Our GM called a stop game on this practice last week, wanting to see this revenue as ticket income. For donated tickets that we have not yet processed we will use the Tess functionality Return to Donation.
But we have a few customers whose donations we had already booked as Contributions. I need to get this income back over into Ticketing. Some of the seats that they donated have already been resold, so I can't seat them back where they were to return the ticket.
My best idea in terms of clean financial and ticket reporting is to seat them in another part of the house, adjusting the price manually if the new zone is priced differently (which it probably will be), and then returning that ticket properly.
Does this sound like a good idea to anyone? Has anyone ever had to do this?
Thanks for any insight -
Frannie
Hi Frannie,
Another thing you might want to consider to move money from a donations bucket to a ticketing gl bucket is creating fake payment methods with the contribution gl, and the ticketing gl. Then you can go into the money bag and insert a negative amount and use the contribution gl payment method, and then insert a positive amount and use the ticketing gl. I’ve done that a couple of times when I had to move money but didn’t have any tickets left.
Cheers,
Kathleen

Hi Kathleen,
Thanks for your response. That does sound like an easy way to move the money without having to reseat that I hadn't thought of.
I am thinking though, while we do still have seats available, I will try to seat them and then return so that the revenue will be counted correctly in totals per performance...
Any other thoughts welcomed. Thank you all!
Hi-One last thought on this (from me, anyway) is that you could create a specific performances for processing these ticket donations. Have an editable price (and sell more than one ticket, if need be), using the 'on account' $ from the donation to buy the tickets. Then you can actually donate the tickets so the standard ticket donation process can take place. We create a specific event used at the end of our season to process this type of transaction.
Best of luck,
Mark
HI Mark - also a good suggestion - thank you!
