Product Drop Down Limit

Hi,

Is there a limit to the number of performances appearing in the Product Catalog drop-down? (I know there is a "reasonable number", but we're not always reasonable.)

Thanks.

Thanks, very much, Alison! We are adding small-group labs into our spring school field trip set-up. That will bring us up to about that 35 number you mention, maybe a bit more. (There is always “more” isn’t there?) We have used zones for different lab topics from which to select (there are nine) in previous lab set-up. But you gave me an idea: these 8 new labs are all the same topic, same grade level, so I may experiment at a different configuration using zones. Thanks again!

    Hi Ray,

I've often wondered this too (and hoped that there is no limit)!

Our busy days would be around 35 performances in the drop-down and we've certainly never had any issues. We do try to limit the performances by using the zones as time slots, for some timed entry exhibitions and events.

  • No problem! We use the time slots in the zones for all of our education programmes, as otherwise we would probably have another 50 performances in the drop-down every day. Just make sure that your order confirmations/acknowledgements or tickets (whichever you give to schools) show these zones- otherwise it looks as though they all start at the one time (whatever time the performance is setup for).

Also, we found that if staff aren’t use to having the times in zones, it’s sometimes better to make the performance time in you product catalogue a time before you even open, rather than the time of the first time slot. E.g. We found that if we had it in the calendar as 10am (the time of the first performance), staff would then be searching for the 10.30am and 11am etc in the calendar, but if we had it as 8am, staff would remember immediately that this performance uses zones for times…
