Hello!
Can anyone tell me how to type a "Latin lower case r with caron (aka circumflex aka hacek)" into tr_composer so that Antonin Dvorak's "r" appears as it should? I've spent about 45 minutes with google with no luck. Alt+0159 comes up most frequently as the correct way to type it in but isn't working; I'm getting a capital Y with umlaut instead. Copying and pasting won't work; when I save the system table the accent goes away.
Thanks!Mary
I recommend using Charmap for such things, thus avoiding codes altogether.
Press Windows + r, then type charmap in the "open" field, press enter, and then you don't have to know where the heck charmap is, either. :-)
Ah, thanks for the charmap shortcut! It's still just a copy & paste function, though, so it doesn't stick when I save the system table.
Thanks,
Mary
Hmm, yeah, probably to do with the table Collation, i.e. "Latin1_General" etc. I don't think you want to change that.
Google tells me SQL will accept Unicode, but I see what you say re: the ř disappearing. Hmm...
I tried updating the lname field in tr_composer to see if it's just the client that rejects 'Dvořák' for some reason, but no, even in SSMS the 'ř' becomes 'r' immediately.
I would open a support ticket if I were you.
It has been my experience that many places in Tessitura do not except special characters. We've had the same issues here and have had to inform our presenting partners that we simply can't accommodate them.
