Tickets that are scanned and then later canceled

Hello,

I have noticed that sometimes a ticket will be scanned and then later that same ticket will be canceled. The cases I have investigated turn out to be a situation where the ticket was scanned, the patron entered the auditorium, desired a change of seat, went to the ticket office, got a new ticket, the new ticket was scanned and the patron enjoyed the show from the new seat.

Should I be worried about this?

Nothing wrong happened, and if we weren't scanning tickets and I wasn't a curious monkey, then we wouldn't even know about it.  But what do the rest of you think?  Is this something I should monitor for potential cases of fraud?  Or should I just be aware of how it figures into reporting?

It seems the Attendance By Performance report is simply counting scanned tickets, so in the case above it would report two tickets scanned.  At the same time a sales report would show one ticket sold. With some digging I can explain how it came to be that one ticket was sold and two tickets were scanned, but how much time do I need to spend on this?  Do I make a custom version of the Attendance report and add a parameter to toggle between showing all scanned tickets and only showing scanned tickets that are still active and on an order?

I'm not losing sleep over this, just wanted to know what the rest of you think.

Thanks,

Jared
