2 for 1 offers online

We are starting a program this year that offers 2-1 pricing for designated Tuesday shows and are wondering if any other organizations out there are doing this same type of offer and if so, what your logistics are around the program as well as do you offer this online?

    Hi,

We run a lot of BOGO offers at the museum, but they are low-tech. No online sales. Fulfillment is handled by the ticket rep entering lines for a full-price ticket, and a Comp for the second. .We’ve had a lot of success with a “kid free with paid adult” promos. We always require a full price ticket to qualify for the free one. (V12 will handle this via the pricing rules engine in development).

  • Hello,

Our organization has a preference for 50% off offers instead of buy one get one free.  This allows patrons to buy tickets in odd numbers, prevents the tickets from being recorded as comps (yes this is just a perception thing), and it is easy to deploy on line with a promo code.

    Jared

  • Hi Jared,

That’s what we had thought to do as well, however we want it to be available without a promo code as it’s a season long offer and needs to be available with other offers.   Plus we don’t want to allow odd numbers and want to make them purchase 2 tickets for same performance.

  • Hi Michele,

That doesn't sound like something we can do with basic Tessitura functionality. I think you would have to program some custom logic into your purchase path.

However, if the upcoming pricing engine rule sets are as magically delicious as they appear to be then some day we will be processing these types of sales with basic Tessitura functionality.

    Jared

  • Yes, very much looking forward to v12, however that doesn’t help me much for our on-sale in 3 weeks! J  Was hoping to find someone that has done the programming that we could pick their brains.

  • We have provided 2-4-1 exhibition tickets previously. The solution we landed on was a promo code that unlocked a special 'Double Pass' price type.

This worked great, but is clearly better suited to GA performances.

  • Sorry, I should have specified that we cannot use a promo code. It has to be available to everyone purchasing these performances on our website and also in combination with other promo's that we may do throughout the season.

We had thought to do a promo on the default web source number, but then if a patron enters a promo code for a different offer we do, then they won't be able to get the 2-1 offer unless we always apply the 2-1 dates to each and every promo we do.

  • You don't need to use a promo code, the double pass could just be a regular Price Type?
