In the interest of due diligence, I'm curious to know if anyone has found a way to sell tickets using the Square dongle on some sort of iDevice and have it tie back to Tessitura. From what I've seen so far (we tested it with our Guild, which does standalone sales not related to Tessitura), there's no way to have communication between transactions through Square's service and Tessitura as if one had sold tickets straight through Tessitura like our Call Center does.
We do have an iOS app for buying opera tickets, but our Marketing Director wants to expand that functionality into a mobile register scenario. So while it's a very tempting idea, I have a feeling it would take a fair bit of custom programming to link Square to Impresario with some sort of API calls on both sides, and I don't know that Square has released such an API or even plans to, meaning we're stuck for a mobile solution for the time being.
Does this jive with anyone's experience?
I looked into a Square API for a personal project, and I can say that there isn't one publicly available. I haven't seen another similar company with an API that I'd be willing to trust yet.
