Production Elements Fun!

Hello all,

My org is approaching a review of our Production Elements setup, and I am hoping to check in other orgs to see if we are simliar, or a little "special" :)

We are currently set up as:

  • Title: 2012-2013 Our Organisation
  • Production: 2012-2013 Musical Kids Shows
  • Production Season: The Wiggles Live (Season in TR_SEASON is '2012-2013 Music')
  • Performance: The Wiggles Live - 01/01/2013 (Campaign is 2012-2013 Admissions)

I have been thinking of this change to suggest, does it look crazy to anyone?

  • Title: 2012-2013 Music
  • Production: 2012-2013 Musical Kids Shows
  • Production Season: The Wiggles Live (Season in TR_SEASON is '2012-2013 Music')
  • Performance: The Wiggles Live - 01/01/2013 (Campaign is 2012-2013 Music Admissions)

Any sharing of Production Element setup approaches would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Nicholas

  • Hey Nicholas,

We do the following at Melbourne Recital Centre, as a venue:

    Title: Presenter of the performance

Production: The productions done by that presenter

    Production Season: as above

Performance: the performances of each production

We find this method works for us as we can find things easily as many presenters use our venues, and also use the Title in custom reporting when doing reports for specific presenters.

    Hope that helps.

    Beau.

  • Hi Beau,

Thanks for sharing that info, very interesting.

Can I ask what you set as the Season (TR_SEASON) and the Performance Campaign in your example?

    Cheers,

    Nicholas

  • Hey Nicholas,

We have a season for each major presenter (that presents multiple concerts throughout the year) and a set of seasons (one for each event guide that is released) for putting all of the “one off” events into.

In regards to Campaigns, we have one for Ticketing that all of these events fall into.

    Beau.

  • Hi Beau,

Thank you for the info. As I mentioned, we also have a single Ticketing Campaign. I have not heard of any orgs doing otherwise, with most calling this an 'Admissions Campaign'.

I came across this in the TN help docs on Campaigns that seems to advise a different tack:

New campaigns are set up annually and generally mirror seasons.

It makes sense, although I do not remember hearing this recommendation before.

    Nicholas
