Selling restricted view tickets online

How do I go about selling restricted view tickets online? We basically need to tell people about the restriction when they book. I've thought about adding hold codes to the seats, so that each one relates to a different kind of restrition (seat behind pillar etc.)

I've seen on another forum discussion that it is possible to add breakable online hold codes for people to buy online, but I'm not sure how to do this. At the moment, we're only able to see the restricted view tickets over the phone, or in person, but this is starting to limit sales quite a bit.

Anyone have any ideas?

  • Hi-

If the restricted view is restricted throughout all performances (a pillar), as opposed to restristed for one event (the designer put a boat downstage left), you can use 'seat type' with a description of 'restricted veiw' or 'partially restricted view'. You would then add the seat type to your venue.  This will show up whenever a patron scrolled over the seat.   Note: If it is just one production that is causing the problem then this method won't work for you.  Changing a seat type in the venue affects all performances in that venue.

You also might try isolating these seats within a price zone.  The zone description would show up not only in your seat map, but the zone description is available to be displayed in your purchase path.  It may take a bit of programming to get it to show up, but both these methods might enable selling these seats online.

    Best of luck!

were you able to figure out how to make this work out? I am also looking for an answer to obstructed view seat selling online.  Sometimes we release seats the day of the performance because of sight line issues and want to be able to have patrons purchase online knowing that there will be a restricted view.
