We have successfully started testing with NScan at FTC and a need has arisen to tie NScan access to a unique barcode (printed on a badge) given to our members to verify current membership.
These badges will be on-hand and pre-printed. Printing out customer numbers is not an option; our current implementation utilizes a custom procedure to check for a customers membership status so I would like to keep that working the same way for solidarity.
To extend this to include non-standard numbers I will be appending B to the barcodes we print (B for badge). These numbers are to be scanned into a custom CSI by our box office staff upon selling a membership (this is where I need everyone's input-- is this the best way?) effectively tying a badge to a customer_no.
Next in the flow would be to just pass this customer number into the already created local procedure for verification.
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to whether the CSI would be the best option here. I like this option as it allows the B/O to put multiple badges in at once for our over the phone/web sales just by having the customer number... but I'm open to any ideas!
Thanks everyone-
Chris
We are starting to the at the N-Scan 6.x Membership feature as well.
Would love to hear from anyone who has implemented.

Andrea-
Things have changed quite a bit since I initially conceptualized this back in 2012.
NSCAN 6 has membership scanning built-in to a certain extent; I would check into this first.
