Money off an order

Hello,

I recently posted about trying to find a way to take a fixed amount of money off of an entire order through a promotion our marketing department is offering. I learned that this functionality doesn't currently exist , but will be forthcoming in other versions. (Yay!)

In the meantime, I am trying to figure out a way to still do this in a work around way. We thought about using a payment method to cover the cost of the order discount we are offering, but our business office doesn't like that idea.

Just curious if anyone else has faced this issue and if what you've done to make it happen if you did?

Thanks!

  • We use the editable pricing function when we need to adjust a price.

We have also used the Apply Discount function with editable price types.
The only downside for us is that if we take a dollar amount off a Standard
price type, it still reports as Standard, not Discount. Otherwise it's
    convenient.

  • Amy,

How did you end up doing this?  We want to take a dollar amount off but it's a fixed amount.  It would make for weird per ticket pricing if we applied a total discount.  My only thought was to drop it into a payment method, but then the per ticket amounts would most certainly be incorrect.  Interested to hear how things turned out for you.  Thanks.
