I'd like our Tessitura to "talk" to our concessionaire's point of sale system so that we could pre-sell beverages, etc in the box office. Our concessionaire uses a form of the Micros point of sale system. Maybe the bar staff scans a barcode on a drink voucher or swipes a mag strip card for payment and it deducts money from the patron's Tessitura account. I suspect it'll take some sort of middle ware to connect the two. Anyone out there doing anything like this?

Hi Jennifer,
My org is also looking into this, did you have any luck with your planned integration?
Best,
Nicholas
We don't have our two systems talking to one another, but we did install Nscan scanners at each of our beverage kiosks and pre-sell drink & snack tickets through the box office. The bar staff scan the ticket to prove validity and in the case of a PAH ticket, ensure that it's not re-printed and used again.
Ahhh, that’s a nice idea. Is it helping speed up wait times at the bar? Any other good outcomes?
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer & Nicholas,
Did either of you get anywhere with this at all, or has anyone done anything similar?
Thanks,Caryl
Hi Caryl,
Sadly we have not continued down this path as we hoped we would. The building of the middle ware was going to be waaay more expensive than we could afford at the time. We’d still like to tackle it but it’s not a current priority. Let me know if you figure anything out!

I spent a bunch of time discussing this with our different business units, and ended up with a half way solution.
The solution was to have a subset of our customers who are members present their membership cards which have their Constituent ID on a barcode to get their discount. This number would then be appended to the purchase in the third party POS.
The next stage is to extract reports that show these sales and import them to Tess. This has been a sticky point as it has proved challenging to get usable reports in a regular fashion from these third party systems. This is partly technical, and partly a business rule challenge.
We have not imported them to Tess yet, but when we do before the end of the FY, we will store them in the Purchase History table. We already have a custom T-Stats measure for reporting when that is done.
Here is a look at my account which shows some entries that we added manually into the database to simulate what the data would like like in a customer record. The Product Code column is just showing numbers, but the plan is to have that be codes like coffee/food/alcohol/books/catalogs.
Thanks both!
