Super Packages & General Admission

For those of you who are dealing with super packages, does anyone have performances that are in a larger house (and would have different price zones) and also performances in a smaller house (where there would only be one price zone)?

Next season (09-10) we are moving into a new space that is flexible with seating on the main stage - so 4 of our shows will be in 2 different configurations, but we have settled the price zones (6 total) for each configuration.  Our 1 remaining show of the season is in the upstairs black box space with only 80 seats that we have set up as General Admission with only one price map.

This worked out great for selling full 5 play subscription packages, but we are having an issue when considering how to set  up and sell partial subs (4, 3, 2 play packages).

I had thought it would be easy to take the 4 play pricing from my manager (by series night and area) and just divide it by 4 to get the price per show.

That would work fine except that the Black Box is only 1 price area and therefore only 1 price per series night.

I am considering two options:

1) redo my pricing formulas for partial subs so that the Black Box price is a constant in all areas for each series night (wouldnt be too problematic, maybe a little bit of math involved)

2) restructuring the Black Box to contain 6 pricing areas to fit my original formulas (this is no work for our IT person, but it means the Box Office would have to unseat all subs sold previously - since April - and then reseat so that they were structured correctly in the Black Box)

Does anyone have any opinions or comments on my little situation?

  • What we've done with our black box is that we do have the same number of zones in each facility (or each version of each facility) for consistency. But in cases where we want it to essentially be a "1 zone" situation, we just map the price as the same in all zones for that pricetype. We have had situations before where our black box was GA , but there were multiple GA zones within that one facility. By having the zones there, if we wanted to use a multiple zone pricing structure we can, and when we don't it's just mapped the same across the board creating the same effect as a one zone facility.
