Hi Everyone,
We are experiencing and error when trying to redeem a gift certificate. It displays "Gift Certificate is in use in Batch -1 and could not be locked."
I looked in the order to see what the actual batch for the gift certificate was and saw it was 10085. I looked up the batch number and saw it was from the Web in early December. The batch was closed and posted normally, showing no signs of an error.
Looking around, the only suggestion I saw was to close and post the batch that was holding up the transaction, but since it's already closed and posted I wanted to see if anyone else had run into this error. Thanks!
Gary,
When a gift certificate is locked by batch -1, it means that it is locked by the web. What may have happened is that someone applied the gift certificate online, but then did not complete the order thus leaving it locked. When a gift certificate is left in this state, the system will consider it locked until the amount of time specified in your ORDER LOCK TIMEOUT default has passed (T_DEFAULTS, Tessitura Web). After the timeout has elapsed, the gift certificate will be considered unlocked and can be accessed again.

I have gotten that error before, and it seems to be some sort of glitch in the system. If you close out of the order (in some cases I had to close completely out of Tessitura and restart) then go back in and try redeeming again it worked. It's really frustrating when you've got a line at the box office, but that's one simple fix I have found works.

Hi!
I've got a similar situation where a subscription order is locked by web (-1). The Order Lock Timeout period has more than passed since it was locked and we still can't access the order.
Is there a way to force release this order so we can access it and complete the renewal?
Thanks!
All is well. I isolated the order using SQL and updated the mir_lock from -1 to 0.
Still not sure why it held on to that order for so long after the lock timeout period but we found a resolution regardless!
Hello Beth. We're having several calls about Gift certificates being locked. Is your SQL method the only way we can release the gift certificate immediately?
Hi Adria,
My problem was actually with subscription orders. I'm not 100% sure if gift certificates are the same or not offhand. We don't sell gift certificates online currently so the problem hasn't come up for us.
If you've passed your standard lockout time or they are still locked the next day then the SQL trick may be the best way to release it.
