I have another question about use of the website pertaining to subscribers. I know at my previous employer, if a subscriber exchanged their tickets through the website, the money was put into a downgrade payment type BUT, if the patron was savy enough, they could put that money towards a gift certifcate (we have crafty patrons in Milwaukee).
My question is: what do all of you who allow exchanges online with the leftover money from a downgrade?

We use the downgrade payment method on our website for exchanges as well - there's no way for a patron to turn it into a gift cert fortunately!
We don't show the 'downgrade' amount if there is one when selecting tickets or on the checkout page - either patrons see what it might cost to upgrade or they see a zero dollar amount. So as crafty as they might be, the website is craftier! ;)

We make the patrons use up any differences by not letting them check out until they get within $25 of their total. We do issue an exchange voucher that is valid for 3 months from date of issue for anything under $25.
