Print Specific Header design with Contribution in Ticketing?

Hello all :)

I am looking at having a header card print out as an interim Membership card after Box Office staff process a contribution to the Members fund. It would be a specific header design that explained the interin card.

The closest I could find was getting a Ticket type (ticket, recriept, header etc..) to print out with a specific Payment Method, which would not work in this case.

This appears challenging as a Contribution is by definition not a performance, and therefore not obvious in setting the Ticket Design to work with.

Has anyone else operated in this section?

  • Could you design a new Header for the same purpose?

You could use text boxes on your Header design for the fields you want (interim info etc) this might work as you can print a header at an time without a performance being attached to the order and can choose the particular header that you want to print.

  • We did basically what Caryl is suggesting.  We have a Header called Temporary Membership Card that can be printed whenever we want.  Generally it's used when someone buys or renews their membership at the box office so they have something to show (for gift shop and parking ramp benefits, etc...) immediately.  It also works great in situations where a member lost their card.

We print pretty basic stuff on this Header including Constituent ID# (as a barcode as well since we scan them in the ramp), Membership Level and Expiration Date, Name, Address and then have text at the bottom letting them know their permanent card will arrive in a few weeks.  This was set up over 3 years ago so my memory isn't the best, but I think the only tricky part was getting the new membership information to pull in before the order was actually saved since we wanted to be able to print these cards along with tickets.  If I remember right JCA wrote us some code to use with one of the User-Defined elements to accomplish this.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

  • Thank you Caryl and Kjersten, wonderful ideas!

I will go down the Header card route. As it's just an interim card it can be very basic. I am thinking just the members name and a sentence stating valid 2 weeks from <<current date>>.
