I'm curious how others out there deal with partial view seats. Do you sell them at full price? Do you have a separate Price Zone for them? Are they available on the web? etc.
I ask because we've been selling in a few new venues for a few months now (subscriptions and just recently single tickets) and I've just been informed that there are partial view seats that we want to sell at a lower price.

Hi Dale
We do a bit of both.
If its just a few seats in a section we tend to leave them in the same price zone, and use Seat Types to message the issue (as an example we do this for ‘surtitle’ (ie translation) view in opera perfs where some seats in a row are effected while others aren’t, and we display the Seat Type tex to the customer on the web).
If there is a discrete block of seats all similarly affected the promoter usually prices them differently, but not always. Again these have Seat Types that describe the issue so we can sell online if we decide to, although more often than not we leave them on a Hold Code for call centre/counter sales only.

We have a venue with several hundred limited view seats and sell a lot of them for our Broadway shows. We usually put these in separate price zones so we can sell them at a lower price. We also use unique Seat Types. We do sell them on the web and have a custom procedure that requires the patron to “check off” their acceptance of the limited view seats.

Gary
