Ticket Printing - blank tickets

We are encountering a problem printing ticket orders, where at different points blank tickets will spit out either at the end or in-between the events being printed.

The only two clues I have are:

1 - The blank tickets always appear in the same order upon multiple re-prints.

2 - This only happens to orders with complimentary tickets. Paid orders print fine.

Has anyone encountered this or have any idea what is causing the problem?

  • Given that you have a very specific pattern, this may not be it, but in my experience blank tickets mid-print usually means a problem with either the print head or the optos on the boca. Have you tried cleaning the platen? How old is the print head?

    I have never had this happen in such a specific scenario as the one you describe, but we have had many issues on many occasions with blank tickets coming out after an order prints, and it was always a hardware problem, once caused by the black bard on the back of our ticket stock being wrong which killed the optos, and other times just because the print heads were at the end of their lifespans.

  • It didn't occur to me to check for a hardware problem. I tested printing the problem orders on multiple printers and it was just the one printer with problems. We've had the printer for five years without any cleaning or maintenance. I suppose it's about time we look at that.

  • I've also seen blank tickets print when there is a contiguity error on the seat map. If you go into facility manager and open the a seat map, you can right click and select check for completeness. That will let you know if you have any issues with contiguity.
