RE: exchanges in original or new order?

For subscriptions we do the exchange in a new order using the original MOS. This helps us when it comes to the show settlement

For single tickets we do the exchange in the existing order.

I was wondering if most organizations process exchanges in the original order or in a new order? If you use a new order, do you use an Exchange MOS?
