N-Scan Special Access Areas

Hi everyone,

While reviewing some of the documentation on N-Scan as we prepare for the upcoming season, I noticed that there's an option to have scanning available for "Special Access Areas." From what I read, this appears to be a way to allow a patron with a performance ticket to enter a special area, like a donor lounge or special event. It looks as though the patron would have their ticket scanned at entry to the hall, and then could go get the ticket scanned again to enter the special area, or vice versa.

I had previously thought that tickets could only be scanned once for an event, but this made it sound like that's not entirely true. Is anyone currently using the Special Access Area functionality, and if so, would you mind sharing how it works? We would love to do something like this, but hadn't thought it was a possibility before.

  • We are using this function for the first time during our King Tut exhibit at the Science Museum of Minnesota.  Because our pricing structure is different for this exhibit than other exhibits in the past it works great!  We are using it for a special VIP fast track ticket, where the visitor can just come in when ever and "skip" the line for Tut, and for our PAH tickets.  The General Exhibit portion is treated as the special event, or VIP room, since we don't do alot of reporting on Gen Ex tickets scanned and the Tut portion is treated as the event.  One thing we have done so the staff at the door do not have to switch back and forth on the scanner is have 2 scanners, one set for Tut and one set for General Exhibits.  Luckily we only have one entry so this was easy to accomodate.
