Switching Modes of Sale for Promo Codes

Hi...

I'm looking for a way to stream line our set up process for all the various promo codes we build. Right now we tie a seperate Mode of Sale to the promo code. I've seen a couple of posts on the forum of other organizations that have one Mode of Sale for their promos. I'm curious how it works for you and also what happens if you have more than one code available for a particular show.

Thanks!

  • Hi Ashley,

Using offers is the most efficient way to handle discounting on the web.  See the Modes of Sale document for details.  Generally, you shouldn’t use a mode of sale shift for a discount unless you want it to be automatic on login based on rank, or if there is some other special access involved (such as a presale or allocations).  Offers have been around for a while now (since 2005 I think), but they didn’t always exist, so if your website is old it’s possible your site can’t use them.
