Create Your Own Series (sort of) Online

The company we use to handle setting up our web ticketing, DigitalWork, has created a cart validation condition that we can add in a local table in which we define web promo codes that changes the price type (but not MOS, because we don’t switch MOS on the web except in order to sell to special groups before we are on sale for regular patrons) based on a number of criteria. We can restrict the special price type to people who have a certain number of tickets and/or productions in their cart, and even restrict to accounts with specific attributes in their account.

At the New Victory Theater, our Membership is structured in a similar way. Buy 3 or more shows and you get a discount and Member privileges. It’s the only subscription-type offering that we have, we don’t use Tessitura Subscriptions or Packages.

We have a Member MOS with Member price types set up in Tessitura, and on the web we had our web developer hard code the logic into the purchase path. So, when you put the third show into your cart, you are switched over to the Member MOS and the discount kicks in. Also, behind the scenes, a Membership event is added to your order which has a discounted processing fee attached and a Current New Vic Member constituency code is added to your record. We track the number of Member households that we have by reporting on the Membership event. Upon logging in, the constituency code allows them to buy additional tickets throughout the season at their Member discount.

While we are looking at a custom solution, I have been asked by management to see how other Tessitura users handle our situation.

We are offering a discount if you purchase 4 of our 6 shows of 10% off each ticket.  But this isn't a package and we want you to be able to purchase variable numbers of tickets to each event so the flex package isn't an option for us.  And we want it to be automatically applied when you put the 4th show in your cart so there really isn't an easy way to apply a MOS shift.  Does anyone else offer a discount like this online and if so, how did you go about setting it up?
