Outside sources showing on promotion RB on contact tab

Hello,

We are investigating several orders made via a presale offer/promo code but which have our general web source number on the order.

Several of these orders have our General Web source on the promotions tab, even though it is an outside source and has not been 'promoted' to these patrons.

Can anyone help me understand why an outside source would appear on the promotions RB as only inside sources can be promoted to a specific constituent?

  • If the pricetype for the offer at any point were active when the offer weren't, then someone could have purchased without entering the promocode, and the order would have the generic web source. Or if the presale involved an MOS change, but maybe the pricetype were also accessible in the standard MOS, it would've shown up without the promocode being entered.

To answer your question, it would show up under the patron's account in promotions if it has ever been used for an order. Do you have patrons with an outside source with no response showing up under promotions? That would be weird. But in orders, active outside sources that the patron has used before will show up alongside the inside sources in the source code pop-up window. So it could have been selected accidentally in a non-web order too.
