Ticket scanners for Valet Parking

Hello,

We are looking at offering valet parking next year, and ideally we would like to have an usher or a valet use a ticket scanner to scan barcodes on patron's parking tickets.  I'm hoping there are others who use this same system for valet parking, and I was hoping that you would share your ideas with me.

My suggestion was to build a single individual parking event for each performance run, that would have a date in Tessitura set to the day after the end of the show's run, so that anyone with the parking ticket could come and use it for any night of the show's run, and it would be scanned.  But I'm not sure if scanners will allow you to do this?  Maybe there is an easier way?  I would be eager to learn how other organizations are handling this.  Thanks!

  • N-Scan scanners validate a performance based on either the facility entered in to the unit profile (in which case it only accepts performances for the current date in that facility) or the performance ID you enter into the unit profile (regardless of the date on which that performance takes place).  So if you entered a the performance ID for your parking performance instead of a facility for the parking units, you should be able to scan tickets in for the entire run of a show.  You’ll need to then manually update the performance ID on the profile to the next parking performance when you change shows.
