We are working towards the March 15, 2011 compliance deadline for the Department of Justice's new regulations for Title II and Title III of the ADA- specific to selling accessible seating via the Web.
We have considered using price zones, pricetypes or seat types in Tessituyra to call out the accessible seating through the Web API for patrons purchasing on the web.
Any recomendations?
Thank you-Lisa
Yes, sorry, you are correct, it is no construction/alterations, so 2011 is the required deadline.

Hi Lisa!
We are on the same timeline you are with a completion date of March 15, 2011 since the rule effective date is March 15, 2011.
On March 15, 2012, compliance with the 2010 Standards will be required for new construction and alterations, but since accessible seats being available on the web is not part of construction or physical space alteration our attorney has advised us to have it operational by the time the rules go into effect.
Commercial Media plans to have an testible version ready for me to check on Monday using Holds. I'll let you know how that goes.

The law goes into effect March 15, 2011, but is not required to be fulfilled until March 15, 2012.
The link for all the requirements is at this link: http://www.ada.gov/regs2010/titleIII_2010/titleIII_2010_withbold.htm
Do a find for “tickets”
These are the regulations for public and commercial facilities. The specific note that requires these seats to be sold on the web is this (see part C)
§ (ii) Ticket sales. A public accommodation that sells tickets for a single event or series of events shall modify its policies, practices, or procedures to ensure that individuals with disabilities have an equal opportunity to purchase tickets for accessible seating –
§ (A) During the same hours;
§ (B) During the same stages of ticket sales, including, but not limited to, pre-sales, promotions, lotteries, wait-lists, and general sales;
§ (C) Through the same methods of distribution;
§ (D) In the same types and numbers of ticketing sales outlets, including telephone service, in-person ticket sales at the facility, or third-party ticketing services, as other patrons; and
§ (E) Under the same terms and conditions as other tickets sold for the same event or series of events.
Hope this helps!

We (Center Theatre Group) have JUST gone on line with Wheelchair reservations on line in our Mark Taper Forum. The current show running in their is Stories By Heart if you care to take a look. we put the locations in as a seat type so the patron can hover over that seat and see the description of what it is since we have many different types of w/c seating. We also had our web vendor put a w/c icon on those locations.
Since the seating needed to be availble for all discounts, promotions and performances we opted to have these seats open as available to everyone with a few w/c seats on protection.
We have three theatres of varying sizes... so we figured the safest thing to do was open w/c seating on ONE theatre first... see how it goes with ticket sales and house management, tweak when necessary, then move on to the next theatre... rinse... repeat.
