Hi Gang-We're having something of a conflict with trying to sell an online rush ticket to subscribers who are students or seniors. I'm wondering of the Rank Type 'Start Rank' and 'End Rank' have anything to do with the problem. Can the 'Start Rank' and 'End Rank' be different numbers, and if so, can they overlap (from Rank Type to Rank Type) in order to enable a Priority to 'choose' between the two ranks based on their priority number? This may be the most geeky question I've ever asked. If you have an equally geeky, but pertinent answer, please feel free to scribe it here.
Thanks a bunch,
Mark Sackett, Box Office Manager / Treasurer, San Francisco Opera

Mark, the rank values apply to the rank type that is specified for the web ranking in TR_WEB_RANKING.

Hi Gregg:
Thank you, this is helpful. The one question I have is which rank values the start and end ranks are looking at. Is it the default TR_RANK_TYPE? I do understand the relationships that direct the modes of sale and the source override, but it is helpful to see written out so clearly.
All the best,

Hi Mark,
Don’t know if you got an answer to this or not, but here goes…
Yes, the start and end ranks can be different numbers. If the customer has the rank type specified and the number of ranking points is within the range specified by the start/end rank values, the web ranking would apply and the customer would be switched into the MOS. If you have two or more web rankings specified and a customer would fall into more than one of them, the value of Priority determines which will get used (the lower priority number would take precedence). One other thing I will add here that is a consideration is if you are using web promotions (TR_WEB_SOURCE_NO). This table has an Override Rank indicator. If that is checked and the customer logs in with the web promo code and there is also a web ranking that applies, the web ranking will be ignored and the promo MOS will be used. If the override box in unchecked, the ranking MOS will supercede the promotion MOS switch.
