We're looking to add parking as an add-on when purchasing online. I'm wondering if anyone out there sells parking online. We would like to integrate the tickets with our SKIDATA parking system so that guests can have a seamless experience when they purchase as well as when they visit the museum.
If you do it, how does the process work for the guest as well as your team? Is it an API is it a manual upload of barcodes?
I recently was researching add-on items for another purpose. I learned a couple things which you may find helpful. First, I believe version 16 includes the ability to sell add-ons. The Wex uses version 15 and when we inquired about an add-on customization, we were encouraged to forgo that since v16 would have the capability we needed. Second, as a work around, we sometimes use message-only rules which encourage people to click on a link and add another item to their cart. I don't know how to link to parking. I hope others can point you in the right direction!
If you're using an outside system for parking and not selling it directly in Tess, my recommendation would be one of two things. You can either put a Pricing Rule in place that pops a message up on the Cart or Checkout page, and can then link to the outside website for parking. Not perfectly seamless, but you can at least get the link to open in a new tab or window so they don't have to leave the sales path. A less seamless option is to include information in the confirmation email using the Dynamic Email Content system table. You could include a link there as well, though there is a chance people might not look at the confirmation email to see it.
