Pricing Rule discount for Package

Hi all,

I am trying to set up a pricing rule where it will discount a package $10 if someone renews by a certain date. The issue I am running into is that the discount is applying to each individual performance within the package (4 performances) rather than just the package itself, making the discount $40 in total rather than just $10.

Looking for any insight on what adjustments I should try within the pricing rule or if someone has a different suggestion all together.

Thank you much!

  • Hi Carmen.

Without knowing how you have the rule set up, could you have it adjust by $2.50 rather than $10? That would give you the same $10 savings for 4 shows, I believe.

  • Hello! I wouldn't want the price of the tickets to change or decline - in the event they needed to exchange later, the price wouldn't match and would need to be adjusted. The $10 was a subscription fee I was hoping to waive if people subscribed by a certain time, so not affecting the ticket prices but still making the purchase less expensive.

  • Ah. Got it.

Could you not apply the $10 subscription fee to the package, and then set up a reminder to go into Fees and apply it on the day that you need to? Wouldn't touch ticket prices and gives the discount you're looking for. Might be the easier solution than using a Pricing Rule.

If you did want to use a Rule, you could build a separate price type that has the same cost, then do a price type change to the new price but don't associate that new type with the fee. You could time out the pricing rule so you don't have to worry about putting the fee back on, but this feels like it might be more work than simply adjusting the fee settings.

  • I don't think pricing rules work at the package level, maybe in v,16, hence why it's applying to each performance.

Next year, if you're planning to not apply the fee, you can keep the fee inactivated when you rollover. Once the deadline has passed, activate the fee, and it will apply to all orders that meet the criteria moving forward. Just make sure to have it off before you rollover, otherwise it'll add it to the packages. The only way I know to undo a fee is to override it in the order in the fees tab.

  • Thank you! Yes we used to just manually waive the fees, but it became too much to do for hundreds and hundreds of renewals all at once. I was hoping to have this apply for anyone that renewed their sub online automatically so we wouldnt have to go in a refund all of those fees. I like the idea of having two price types within the rule though, I can give that a shot!
