Hello all,
I have what I think is a very circular problem, and am feeling a bit like an ouroboros...
We have a concert that is currently ONLY available to subscribers, based on a MOS switch that occurs when patrons log in with their subscriber account. However, we have now decided that we want to give our staff presale access to the event. I'm guessing this would be based on constituency codes...
Here's where I run into a challenge...
I don't think I can use an offer, because I want to be sure it is only used by folks with a specific constituency code.
And I don't think I can use a pricing rule (which WOULD work with the appropriate constituency codes) because since the event is not on sale, you cannot cart the event at Regular price in order to fire the pricing rule.
Is there a way to lock down an offer (or even a separate MOS or...?) to people with a certain constituency code? I feel like there has to be, but I sure can't find it!
Thanks in advance, as always, for all of your help!
Be well,
Lesley
Hi Lesley,
We provide presale access for our staff with a MOS switch, and they also receive a discount that is applied by a pricing rule which is only available in the Pricing Rule set for that MOS. That said, this only works because we have a certain automatic job that runs about every 15 minutes - if it sees an account with a staff constituency, it applies a specific Web Rank to their record. We then have a custom system table where different ranks are assigned to a certain MOS. So if someone logs in and they have a staff web ranking, they are then switched into the staff MOS.
If you create a new MOS and setup a MOS switch to occur for those staff constituencies, that sounds like the way to go? Is your current MOS switch for subscribers done via standard functionality or is that a custom process? Hope this bit of info is helpful, but it can be done! For us it just has required a bit of custom backend work.
Best,
Nathan
Same thing might be achieved if staff used a promo code setup in combination with a pricing rule. I say might since I understand this would work but have not tried it myself.
