Hey Ticketing/Pricing Rule Experts,
I need to build a pricing rule where a certain price type can get 2 tickets for the price of 1 for a specific performance. I have not done this before. I am stuck on the best way to do the discount portion of the pricing rule. Has anyone done this before that would be willing to share that portion of their pricing rule?
Thanks so much!!
Sam
Hi Samantha,Just had a quick go at building one as I would assume the best way is to do a "Buy One Get One" Pricing Rule. You would implement a price change of 50% discount across both tickets at the price types required. This may not be 100% right, so please double check this but it should start you on the right path.See the image below for what I did.As mentioned, I just did it quickly and it may not be 100% correct but to me it makes sense as being the way to achieve what you are after.
Hi,
This is a screenshot of a 2 for 1 pricing rule we have currently setup. Is the pricing rule going to be available to everyone or will it be limited by source code, if so add this to appeals and sources. If you have any questions just get in touch :)
Hi Sam,
Similar to what Iain and Annabel proposed, approaching this with a 50% discount is probably your best bet, as pricing rules can't force add inventory to the cart, so you can't "force" a 2nd ticket into the cart when the rule fires. You could also look at the Price Type Mapping option to change one ticket to the comp price, but I'd need to play with how that works (as I'm not sure if you need 2 distinct price types to map to). Happy to help brainstorm more if needed!
Best,
Katina
Thanks Katina! Appreciate it!
Thanks Annabel! This is helpful! This will not be attached to a source code but to a price type. It is something we are doing just for locals and we have a locals price type. I didn't think about doing a price type change with an offer.
Thank so much! I will play with this design in test. This was also the original way I had thought about doing it since we don't have offers or anything setup.
