Hello,
We are going to sell programmes thru Tessitura. The cleanest way for finance and our website would be to sell them as a performance and apply the taxes as fees. However, I'm concerned about building a house with potentially 20K seats (I was thinking about building one large house with as many screens as necessary). I'm wondering if this is possible and if performance would be OK.
The other option would be to sell it as a contribution but then taxing wouldn't be as straightforward.
Thank you.
Hello Lou Ann! This is Yessenia with Tessitura Network Support. We’re happy to assist you with this inquiry. I’ve created a Support ticket where we’ll work with you to find a resolution to this. We’ll also relay our findings from that ticket in this forum post, but if you have any other questions or concerns in the meanwhile please let us know.
Hi Lou Ann. There are a couple of ways to sell Merch, but in recent years with an emphasis shifting to selling online, merch is commonly sold as as performances and bundled with tickets, exactly as you're planning. 20K GA is fine, and depending on how your finance and analysis folks tracks the GL you can have one "performance" per production or split them out over the year as individual tickets. I've done some merch builds for TNEW and our current custom site and looking to overhaul our current setup to incorporate front of house in venue sales.
