Museum "Day Of" Price Increases

Hi! At the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, we are looking at potentially implementing "day of" price increases in 2024 and we are wondering how it's going for folks who are already doing this.

  • Have you seen any increase in pre-purchased tickets?
  • Do you advertise that tickets are cheaper if pre-purchased?
  • How do you report on the "day of" price increases?
  • What is your organization type?

Thanks!

Angela

  • Hi Angela,

We do have an increased purchase price if you buy day-of. This increased price is for both online and walk up purchases.

We've instituted this rather recently, (March, I believe), so we haven't looked too closely at how it's affecting pre-"day-of" sales. I will take a look as we finish closing out May and will let you know. However, we are always surprised how many people still buy the day-of. We probably hover at around 40-50%.

We have clear messaging on our website that tickets are cheaper if purchased in advance.

We have different price types that we use, "advance" and "walk up". We report on both of these to know the split of ticket purchases. (I know the price type "walk up" insinuates that it's only used when people buy physically on-site, but we just re-used this price type for our new same-day increased price system, and now it represents any "same day" purchase)

    We are an aquarium.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!
