Pricing Rule with Promo Code

Hi, has anyone set up a pricing rule that only activates in conjunction with a promo code? We want to give a 20% discount to staff of a corporate partner, but don't want the offer more widely available. This would make the messaging easier too - "Enter the Promo Code to receive a 20% discount on selected concerts" - something like that.

Any ideas?

  • That's great, I hadn't thought of it! I'm assuming they have to be logged in first. Do you run a list of existing, or a dynamic list? I'm wondering what happens if someone without an existing account creates one to purchase a ticket.

  • Hi Michelle!

Yes, the user has to be logged in. (Or, at least when we do this with constituencies the user has to be logged in. We have a custom site, so we have language that prompts the user to login if they're using a promocode connected to a constituency - I would imagine for list-based pricing rules that logging in is the same trigger... i should play with this hahaha).
Unfortunately pricing rules do not generate a dynamic list. TN recommends running the generate a list utility if you need the content to be dynamic but that may not catch someone who creates an account and then tries to buy. Also, if the list is pulling based on a specific email (ex: @company.com) the user needs to make sure to build their login with that emai... That's the kicker with some of this constituent based content - the user needs to have an account and be logged in to access the content on the web.

P.S. Looking forward to co-presenting with you at TLCC on this topic! My email is white@trustarts.org - looking forward to connecting!!
