Visitor counting technology for general admission - looking for recommendations

Hello everyone,

My venue is currently looking into the possibility of purchasing visitor counting tech and would be interested in hearing of others experiences/recommendations with this - we haven't previously used anything like this.

We stopped general admission ticketing a few months ago and are currently using manual clickers to count general visitors to the museum and are manually inputting this data into Tessitura for reporting purposes - our exhibitions and programming events remain ticketed so we are really looking for the best solution to capture numbers coming through our entrances. Obviously manual clickers are very prone to inaccuracy and we would looking for something that would improve the accuracy of our visitor data.

I would be particularly interested in hearing from anyone who currently uses anything like this or has done in the past and any pointers on upfront vs ongoing costs to consider, accuracy of information collected and if any options have any level of integration with Tessitura.

Not really knowing where to start, any advice would be very gratefully received! Thank you

  • Our museum is currently using a product called SenSource. We can use its cloud-based user portal to track how many people come in and out of galleries' entrance. The user portal for this product is easy to use, which is a plus. However, there will be some errors, or overcounting, because there is no way to tell if the same guest enters and exits the gallery more than once or if the person entering and exiting is a real guest or a staff member that needs more advanced AI to figure out. Just let me know if you have any other questions. Hope it helps.
