We are looking to bring an event to our main stage that is requested a larger number of ADA seating availability. We have a section of rows in the center of our map that can be removed and changed into Wheelchair seats for the show, however the issue is finding a way to make those seats available for purchase online through the TNEW SYOS map. Since wheelchair is a facility wide seat type, we can't just black out seats and then designate certain seats as Wheelchair since that would affect all our other shows.
Our first thought was to simply build a new facility where we could alter the seat types for these rows. However, we're not keen on having to pay the consulting fees to have the SYOS built, since it will be identical to our current map with exception to these few changes. And chances are slim we would ever make use of this map again. We could also just use a new facility and now allow SYOS online but our team does not like that idea either.
Another idea is to try and use a combination of blackout holds and special price zones in order to designate these specific seats as wheelchair. But the issue with this one is that there is no easy way to inform the customer that they are selecting a wheelchair from the TNEW SYOS. The SYOS does not display price zone descriptions unless the customer opts to view the legend, and from there they wouldn't know they select wheelchair until they get to the cart. We also thought to do this and then have the wheelchair zone have its own price types that clearly state ADA or wheelchair seating on them. But we have almost 2 dozen standard price types for our season shows and that would mean needing to create an ADA version of each price type.
Has anyone adopted one of these solutions for a scenario like this? Or have you adopted another solution for it?
