How do organizations process discounted tickets online?

Hi all,

We're looking at our discount structure- trying to make things as intuitive for the guests as possible. I'm curious as to how other Tessitura organizations use their discounts online.

Do you use Pricing Rules or separate Price Types, or both?

Do you use alternate modes of sale?

How complex is your pricing structure?

How do you curate the guests' purchase path online?

We want to make things as simple as possible, and also have consistent, scalable reporting. Building out 47 Modes of Sale is doable, but labor-intensive, for instance.

I appreciate any and all feedback!

Do you use Pricing Rules or separate Price Types, or both? Both, depending on the offer we are building out.

Do you use alternate modes of sale? Yes, for online we have our standard one, but also have 5 other ones we use during a season for offers.

How complex is your pricing structure? We have one base price but have 7 price zones to give different pricing options.

How do you curate the guests' purchase path online? Pre-load the purchase link with the offer to help make the purchase process simple for the patron. And test it as many times to get the end process you want them to have.

    • Are your discounts standardized? How many types of discounts do you offer? Depends on the show we are selling. And can be any of the following. The standard discount we do the most is 25 or 50% off and Comps for Artist in the Opera.  However, at times we can do any of those combinations you have mentioned below.

    • How do you optimize for reporting, given the variability in your discount structure? We keep only 2-3 offers so that helps with reporting needs.
    • How often do you change your discount structure? We tend to keep it the same at this current time.
