Hi gang,
Does anyone track volunteer working hours in Tess? If so, how? I'm trying to convert some functionality to be able to do it. Perhaps just a Research Note with type = Volunteer Note/Tracker, but that takes away much of the automation of adding hours worked from week to week.
We offer ticket vouchers after a certain number of hours worked, and right now our manager spends hours adding up these hours, and I'm looking for a way to make Tessitura the database they use to organize, rather than a spreadsheet.
Any tips?
Much appreciated,
Sara.
Hi Sara,
At my previous org I managed volunteers and also offered benefits based on how many hours they volunteered. I tracked them through Activities, which worked really well for our purposes. It was simple to set up and use and easy to report on using the Patron Activity report.
Best,
Michelle
Hi Michelle,
This is a really interesting idea. Were you able to see a cumulative total of hours worked per person using the Patron Activity Report? That's the piece I'm having trouble reporting on using Tessitura.
Thanks for your advice,
No, it does not have that capability. However, if you use Attendees as number of hours volunteered, then save the report as an excel file, you can then sort by the customer number and autosum for each person. It's not perfect, but I found it to be a pretty simple way. Another thought is if you have an available field in your constituent header, you could probably write a query to total the number of "attendees" from activities with a type of "volunteering", or whatever you would end up calling the activity type. Then you'd be able to see that in a snapshot on the volunteers constituent record.
