Need a refresher on limiting promo code usage! We have a group for whom we're setting up a comp promo code, which we want to limit to 1 ticket per order and a maximum of 100 comps given away. I know how to limit the number per order in Offers, but how do we limit the total number of tickets that can be purchased with the promo code? I suspect Pricing Rules are the solution, but I'm not seeing what I'm looking for in the Rule Recipes.
Hi Erin,
In the Pricing Rule, in the first tab under the General Section, there is a Maximum Seat field. If you put 100 here, it'll max out the total number of comps given away. With your set-up this note might not matter, but I *think* with this functionality there is a chance where extra comps could be given away. Ex: There have been 98 comps given away and the next order the patron adds 3 comps to cart. I think Tessitura will let the order go through for all 3 comps, but then after that, since 100 has been reached (actually 101) the pricing rule turns off. Hope this is helpful!
Best,
Katina
Perfect, that's just what I was looking for - thanks!
Follow up question - we'd like to make this offer on multiple performances, with the promo limited to 100 tickets per performance. Will the Maximum Seats setting limit that per production, or across all productions to which the rule is applied?
From my understanding, it would be across all productions. You could create 1 pricing rule per production and connect it to the same source appeal. If you set the rule to 300, it wouldn't "assign" 100 max seats per production.
Thanks Katina!
You're welcome! :)
