YES or NO: Promoted Source Codes

Hi Everyone,

Today's prompt is a YES or NO question regarding Promoted Sources.

Patron X is on a promoted source #12345 that is attached to the word SAVE10 in System Tables. Patron X loads the TNEW website and unlocks a 10% discount after applying the code SAVE10.

John Q. Public learned about the SAVE10 code, but was not on the promoted source. Will SAVE10 work for John or any other public buyers who were not on the promoted source?

Thanks for your help!

  • Hi Jeremy,

Any customer could enter SAVE10 and associate their order with source 12345. But, accessing the actual discounted pricing depends on your configuration.

If that source is linked to an offer, any customer would be able to access the new price type(s) regardless of their promotion status.

If that source is linked to a pricing rule, you can limit the discount to just promoted constituents by going to the Constituent Criteria tab and adding a criteria called Promoted Appeal and Source. If this is configured, only constituents who have had the source promoted to their record can activate the pricing rule. But if this is not configured, any constituent can activate the rule.
