Online Family Pricing

Hi Everyone!

I’m trying to create a Family pricing option for one of our productions. The idea is that a patron can buy up to four kid’s tickets that are 50% off any zone as long as they purchase at least one adult/full price ticket. I’m trying to figure out how to have the kids ticket available as an option in the SYOS map, limiting it to four, while also requiring them to select at least one adult ticket. And all of that without using a promo code. Any advice on how to navigate this delicate dance? Is there a Pricing Rule that would help with this?

Thanks!

  • Hi Scott,

I've been working on a different pricing rule thing this week, but have been *in it* so I can help brainstorm. .

Here is the link to the Pricing Rule Recipe Book that has an example for a Family Fun Pack (but also some Add On examples - like the Discounted Single Tickets with Subscription Purchase - that might be a better fit since the adult ticket isn't changing price):
    https://www.tessituranetwork.com/Help_System_v151h/Tessitura.htm#Pricing%20Rules/Pricing%20Rules%20Recipe%20Book.htm

A few clarifying questions - Is there a "kid's ticket price" already, and this is a deeper discount on the kid's ticket? Or is this the same ticket and the kid's ticket is the deeper discount?

I think having two separate price types might be your best bet if it's not already set up that way. Note that for the pricing rules to work, all of the products have to be in the cart before the rule will apply - so at least 1 adult ticket and 1 kid's ticket.

With regards to SYOS -The Pittsburgh Consortia uses a custom site, so I'm not sure how much help I can be regarding SYOS.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks for the suggestions! I have built a Kid's ticket price type, and that ticket is 50% off the adult price type. Maybe what I can do is set the Kid's ticket to be full price and then you the "Family Fun Pack" to then discount just those tickets by 50%. The only issue would be is that they would show as full price to begin with. I'll try it and see if that works. Thanks!
