Hi friends,
Does anyone know if a ticket price must be included on a physical and or Print at Home Ticket? Because the ticket can serve as a receipt I can see the (legal?) requirement, but could also argue there is a separate receipt outlining the sale with fees, etc. Perhaps it is just best practice to include it. Anyone have any guidance?
Cheers!Joe
Hi Joe - If I'm not mistaken, that will depend upon your location. I'd check on your local / state laws. Where are you located?
Thanks Jordan. I am in New York, NY. I've been searching online but coming up empty handed!
When I'm looking, I always look for a government page that will let you search for laws and codes. Looks like this might be where you want to start for NY: https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/newyorkcity/latest/overview
Use that search tool, and look for anything relevant. I know for California, I wound up finding that kind of info in a chunk with info about elevator inspections for some reason, haha.
Hi - I did a bunch of research a few years ago about what is required to be displayed on a ticket in NYC.
But I have to say that I am not a lawyer so this is not actual legal advice and that this was several years ago so there is the possibility that things may have changed. Also most of the laws/ rules I found are applicable for very large performances venues.(like 20k seats)
From what I can remember the ticket must show the Date and Time of the performance, the address of the venue, seat location (if applicable) and price of the ticket (does not need to include fees)
I can’t site my sources anymore but I found things online and my roommate (who is a lawyer) did some research at the law library.
Thanks Zachary! I was able to find this NY law that requires the price to be included on the ticket. Although it did not go into details about location and date, but that may be another law. Interesting enough, this law Effective until July 1, 2022...
