Using Plans (but not for fundraising)

HI All!

I am starting to really integrate a LOT of departments here at the museum in to using Tess. They really want to harness the CRM portion of Tessitura. And why the heck not. We already pay for it, why not make it do all the fun stuff.

So a lot will be revolved around recording of correspondence. I am torn between CSI's and Plans. I am leaning towards plans as the functionality will be enhancing in V16 slightly.

Just wondering if anyone else is using Plans in a non-fundraising way, and would like to share their experience?

  • We use Plans for Education Matinee sales.  We have a thought experiment for using them to keep track of Programming Comms which may take off. It's better than CSIs where the string of communications is longer and requires maintenance and detailed recording.

Our Corporate Sponsorship folks requested a pipeline report for them to use on plans based on Prospect, Steward and Decline levels that shows the last plan step taken.  It's interesting as both an overview and as a "Where are we at" report. Good if you are using plans as a pipeline for progress management and the advantage of it over Portfolio and Analytics is the last note is included.

  • Hi Heath.  I would be interested to see how you are using plans for Education matinee sales.  Would you be willing to share?

  • Hey Heather,  Sorry for the delay.

We could do this better but being a small org etc.  Nevertheless we use plans to get a school over the line from either a cold call (we know the school but not the teacher) or warm (where we have a relationship and have a teach-school relationship in Tessitura).  So like Philanthropy we move people up a status from researching them to making the booking.

Either they can use a form in TNEW to create an Expression of Interest (we do loads of school workshops as well incl Nationally) or we call them.  We then send them an invoice using HTML templates.  Then they can pay in TNEW using One Page Giving to on-account, over the phone with credit card, or bank deposit.

    Anyway PLANS

Plans are set up in bulk in the usual way after segmenting schools into contact groups.  Here is an example from a plan that was used to book a school (with notes).

As you can see Education use up a lot of the custom fields in Plans (snooze you loose philanthropy)

  • This is great! Thanks for the example.
