Simplifying Fees

Hi everyone,

As per my Province's recently updated ticketing laws, my organization is now required to break down all ticket prices by the various fees prior to checkout.

Before this law, we just incorporated all fees into the various Price Layers when building our events. Now, we utilize the "Fees" tool in Tessitura. While this tool doesn't require us to enter nearly as much data into the Price Layers, it creates a huge number of other problems instead. This is owing to the fact that my organization has a particularly large amount of concerts, concert series, and Price Types for each of these series. This results in a massive amount of fees, each of which need to be tied to specific Seasons within Tessitura.

Furthermore, we have a facility fee we need to factor in to our tickets, but only when base ticket prices reach a certain amount. On top of this, a GST fee can only be wired to calculate up to two decimal spaces. While our calculations may work out in Excel, inputting similar numbers in Tessitura will have prices coming out $54.07, $35.11, etc. This results in prices that are not what we advertise.

It is hard to explain without showing, but wiring fees for my organization has become a hugely convoluted process. Whenever a new fee issue comes up, for example, the solution is often to create a new fee, thus resulting in an even more extensive list to sift through when other problems arise. In some cases, I have had to create fees for specific base prices.

Does anyone have any tips for wiring and reducing fees? Really, I'm just looking to simplify the process overall. The process I am using now was created in haste when our Province's laws changed, so I would like to take some time now, before we launch another season, to completely re-evaluate things.

Any tips/advice would be much appreciated!
