Allocations

We are about to do one of our first Allocations which will be available on our website, over the phone and at the Box Office.  We have an "Allocation" Mode of Sale ready to use but is it possible to have the Allocation available on the Internet, Phone and Window Modes of Sale without losing the capability to have these Modes of Sale available for other performances?

Thank you very much!

  • Thanks, it’s working now!

    Hi Shelley,

Allocations always throw me for a loop, but I think I know what you are dealing with.

Are all the seats not assigned to your allocation code set as "unassigned"?
I think when you want to keep these from being available you need to assign them to a different allocation code that doesn't have access to your special MOS that you are using to do the promo code flip.
So one code for those select few seats that is associated to your special MOS, and one code for all the other seats that is assigned to all your normal MOSs(Web, Box Office, etc.).

Hopefully I've got that right and that is what you are looking for.

    Cheers!

Since I only do allocations once a year I need a refresher.

How do I set up an allocation map to only allow one section of the theatre and block out the rest?

I'm able to get to the point where my promo code changes the online mode of sale to see that section but it still allows me to purchase in other sections as well.

    Thanks for the reminder!

  • Actually, you can do this even easier by just not associating your promotional mode of sale to the “unassigned” allocation code.  That’s the whole reason you have to associate the “unassigned” allocation code with modes of sale in the first place, i.e. so you have the option not to when you want.
