N-SCAN: Beyond the basics

N-SCAN can do so much more than just scan tickets!

From VIP alerts to special access areas, I know there are a variety of uses out there. During the pandemic, many organizations adopted N-SCAN for the first time and I’d love to share your creative ideas with them. Even simple things are great sources of inspiration.

How is your organization using N-SCAN to advance your business or make your team work together better?

Thank you for sharing your story,
Karyn

    Hi Everybody!

We have been using N-Scan messaging for years to let ushers know when subscribers have scanned in for our black box space because they have special seat locations reserved within the general admission house. We also did some VIP alerts a few seasons back so that we could do some surprise and delight.

Last week, we had our biggest N-Scan accomplishment to date. We were able to use Tessitura HTML Templates to trigger a chit to print from a Zebra ZQ320 hip printer (maybe it is really a lanyard printer) once a ticket is scanned using PrintNode.

Here is the business case for why we took on this project. We decided back in the summer of 2020 that moving forward we would primarily utilize digital tickets for all our future shows. Being primarily digital has allowed us to switch venues and dates pretty easily in this time when nothing seems set in stone. Since then 78% of our tickets have been scanned from our True Tickets digital ticket wallet and no hard printed tickets are being mailed. Then Hasan Minaj gets booked for September 17, 2021 and soon thereafter we hear that they will be using Yondr to have guests lock up their phones during the performance. This meant that guests would not be able to look at their phones to see their seat locations but we continue to be really quite passionate about sticking with our digital ticket program and minimizing the ability for ticket brokers to distribute tickets at will. This motivated us to come up with out chit printing solution. The chits for Hasan Minhaj are printing seat locations, but with Tessitura HTML Templates we are able to print just about whatever we want on ~3' wide receipt paper.

We have tested it thoroughly and are going live with it on Friday for Hasan Minhaj. We just got off a call installing the same procedure for Dr. Phillips Center because they have the same show on Sunday. It only took about an hour to be installed.

We are really looking forward to expanding this to print chits for drink coupons and book vouchers and possibly even having drink orders print to our Patrons' Club when big donors arrive.

I have some examples and a short video if anyone is interested. My email is nkeating@arshtcenter.org.

  • Are you still using this printing function with paper tickets? I would like to see the paper tickets myself, but worry about issues with bluetooth connections. We have a zebra ZQ320 printer as well.
