Blocking Constituent in TNEW

Hi.

First-time caller. Long-time listener.

I wanted to see what might be a few best practices and processes for banning a patron.

Our goal is for a patron to no longer be able to buy a ticket.

From a TNEW standpoint, we require all patrons to either use their Member Login OR Register before buying a ticket.

From here, if a certain email address populates, I would like the patron to see a notification to call us about their account.

What would be the best way to go about this?

I figured, if I delete a record, the patron could create a new login.

Any help would be great. I would love to hear any ideas you may have or how your org has dealt with this matter.

Thanks in advance. Antonio.

  • A few TLCC's ago, someone presented on breaking the purchase path for specific flagged scalper accounts via a pricing rule. I love this idea -- we've never put it into practice.

Basic setup in a nutshell, Pricing Rule created that if a patron record was on an attached criteria list then pricing rule would fire to give the patron access to a specific price type. The key is the pricetype is never on the show itself, therefore the purchase path gets broken. Doesn't keep the patron from creating a new account, but it definitely slows them down. If you are the person who presented on this, link to your presentation. This was brilliant!

My colleagues at the Nashville Symphony once had a customized tessitura header complete with a Caution image and red bold letters, DO NOT SELL. This helped with the phone room sales so once a patron record was loaded a ticket agent would have provided messaging and not proceed with the order.

If you send official communication to the patron via email/snail mail stating that they have been banned, save a copy under Research tab, Documents (New) radio button.

    Looking forward to other ideas.

  • I really appreciate your insight on this one. This is great feedback! I think this feels like a great solution and has a process for the org.

And just for dcumentation sake. I did come across this thread from a few years back.
